The Principal of Adharshila - Mr. Rajesh Singh is post-graduate in Political Science. He was teaching in a Senior school in Kanpur for the last 5 years as Vice Principal and is actively involved in the day-to-day affairs and the long term planning and management of Adharshila.
The teachers believe in the all round development of children and not just their intellect. They are willing to adopt new methods of teaching, which are more children friendly and thus effective. There is equal emphasis on co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
A change in the process of teaching by the teachers which would include teachers training, mutual learning and self learning process in appropriate manner would be the prime need. Children’s Development centers have been started where creative activities have been initiated. Children are involved in creative activities for over all development. Story telling, games, songs, dance and various physical exercises and sports are some of the activities children enjoy at the centers. We also teach to make various play materials out of paper and other waste. Computer education and special English classes have been started in the Center. The children were very happy to participate in the center. The children were delighted to see the first ever computer in the village. Learning Environment Our schools nurture the complete child, including mind, body and spirit. Family values are strengthened and social barriers are replaced by progressive attitudes. In addition to the basic curriculum several innovative approaches are incorporated into the students' daily routing. These include:
Laughter: Studies are presented as an enjoyable challenge instead of as an overly-serious undertaking. Friendliness: Students are encouraged to make new friends continually, fostering a feeling of closeness and togetherness. Belonging: Each child is encouraged to feel that his/her teacher is also his/her friend and confidant. On this ground of mutual trust and admiration, a feeling of belonging to a caring community is cultivated. The complete potential of the child is unlocked by providing the right environment for the child to blossom.
The “right environment” comprises :
Innovative Learning Process: A proven process of self-learning that builds life-skills and nurtures leadership A Curriculum for All Round Development: A syllabus that develops on NCERT recommended curriculum, and helps a child blossom in all aspects of life Eco-conscious surroundings: Buildings and infrastructure that are eco-friendly and in harmony with the environment The major emphasis on the curriculum in the school is on value based holistic education. Apart from the standard Centre-recognized curriculum, the school focuses on the overall personality development of the child. Special attention is given to values, health and hygiene because of the socio-economic background they come from.
Sports form an important aspect of the daily curriculum. Some students like to water and take care of plants.
